Hisense Series XT710 TV helps you exercise your La-Z-Boy sans remote

You might feel like the king of the couch, but let's face it -- picking up the remote can be exhausting. Hisense is hoping to lighten your load with the launch of its new Android-based Smart TV with hands-free eyeSight gesture recognition technology -- the Series XT710. Slated to launch in China, the TV features a 2D sensor, designed to understand your hand movements and interpret your every channel changing whim. Besides flipping between reruns of Law and Order and Jersey Shore, couch potatoes will also be able to play games and access Android applications through the intelligent tube. Now, if it could only help us pop our popcorn. Jump past the break to check out the full PR.

ANA's Boeing 787 Dreamliner touches down after first international flight (video)

All Nippon Airways' Boeing 787 Dreamliner marked the end of its first international flight today, touching down in Hong Kong. The dreamy flying machine took off from Tokyo and arrived to what looks like quite the crowd, including some folks from Engadget Chinese, who were on-hand at Hong Kong International Airport to snap the 787 from every angle and grab some video of the pilots discussing the aircraft. Check that out after the break.

Taiwanese Animators Distill Steve Jobs? Bio Into 93 Seconds of Funny

Those kooky Taiwanese animators from NMA.TV have reached a new high in campy 3D synthesis of real-world events: They've boiled down all 630 pages of Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs bio into a 90-second joyride through the book's most juicy revelations.

Jetbus is a retro-tastic physics game, with a bus

jetbus
Once upon a time, there used to be a DOS game with a caveman and a human powered helicopter. The caveman would shuttle around the screen, madly trying to get customers to where they wanted to go.

Jetbus is not that game, but it's obviously inspired by it. You're driving a yellow school bus which has jets. I guess the jet engine takes quite a bit of space inside the bus, because you can only pick up one person at a time.

There are several doors on the screen, each with its own number. As you pick up a person, the status bar at the bottom of the screen shows you which number door you have to take them to.

You must fly your bus carefully, because if it gets bumped around too much, you lose. You earn money on each level, and can visit the garage to buy better jets and damping, power-ups, or even a whole new vehicle.

So while this game isn't made as well as the original that inspired it, it does provide a few minutes of fun. And now, which one of you guys remembers the original and feels like pointing to it in the comments?

Keen On? Vinod Khosla: ?I?ve Failed More Times Than I?ve Succeeded? (TCTV)

Screen shot 2011-10-25 at 10.17.45 AMAs the co-founder of Daisy Systems, the founding CEO of Sun Microsystems, a general partner at Kleiner Perkins and the founder of Khosla Ventures, there are few men who appear to have failed less than the legendary Vinod Khosla. And yet, when I caught up with Khosla after he keynoted yesterday?s excellentFailCon conference in San Francisco, he confessed to me that he?d failed more times than he succeeded. Failure, of course, was the theme of the day at FailCon. And Khosla had much else to say about failure ? arguing that the teachers in American schools are all failures and suggesting that all experts are full of ?crap?. In Khosla?s mind, I suspect, what?s so interesting about failure is that you have to experience it in order to be successful. And that?s why, he told me, the success of technology entrepreneurs like Jack Dorsey and Max Levchin is dependent on their earlier failures.

Siri shows up on an iPod Touch, no longer plays favorites in the iOS family

That Siri gal is certainly making the rounds these days. When she's not answering your questions on a 4S, she's showing up on iPads and elder iPhones. Not one to play favorites, Siri's now lending her considerable talents to an iPod touch. Two enterprising young hackers, euwars and rud0lf77, are the ones who put Siri on the iPod, and you can see the results of their labor in the video after the break. Of course, Apple's servers still aren't as friendly as the virtual voice assistant, so Siri's latest cameo remains a silent one -- but some Siri's better than none, right?

How The Gadget Show built its FPS simulator (video)

Remember The Gadget Show's FPS simulator that we showed you last week? Armed with naught but a pre-release level of Battlefield 3 and £500,000 ($650,000), it transformed a Birmingham studio into the sort of game room only multi-billionaires can dream of (as long as the dreams involved getting shot back, the sim comes packing paintball markers). The episode, which shows how this slice of gaming greatness came to be, has just finished airing here in the UK, where streaming and catch-up services aren't available to those outside the country. Fortunately for you lot, our friends at the show have uploaded the feature for you to watch in all its glory after the break.

In-app payment support arrives on Android

Right on cue, Google has launched in-app payment support for Android applications. Developer testing began last week, and now many popular apps -- like the ones pictured above -- can begin charging users for add-on functionality, content, or whatever the heck else they feel is worthy of additional bits of your pocket change. If you were wondering, Google will take the same 30% cut that Apple takes from in-app purchases.

At last we can buy individual issues in Comics with minimal fuss!

Jets for iPhone: Find Out Where the Best Seat on the Plane Is [IPhone Apps]

I don't know when flying turned annoying for me but I absolutely hate it now. Going through security, dealing with checked bag fees and then getting stuck with an annoyingly terrible seat? Gah. Kill me. Jets doesn't solve most of my air travel woes but it does help me figure out what the best seat on the plane is. More »
